Aldubnation didn’t fail to prove that they are still the most solid fandom to date. The supporters of the phenomenal love team showed that their hard work paid off as the half of Aldub—the Pambansang Bae, Alden Richards took the most number of awards on the recently concluded MPS Online Awards 2017.
The 25 year-old actor and recording artist won 4 awards in all of his nominations including Album of the Year for his 2016 album “Say It Again”; Favorite Movie Soundtrack for “Imagine You & Me”; Favorite OPM Song for “Rescue Me”; and Favorite Male OPM Artist. Last year, he won the Favorite New Artist award. Meanwhile, the other half of Aldub—Maine Mendoza, a first time nominee, grab 2 awards which is the Favorite New Artist and Favorite Movie Soundtrack award together with Richards. After her drought last year, Popstar royalty Sarah Geronimo finally won an MPS award. She won 2 out of her 7 nominations including Favorite Music Video for “Tala” and Favorite Mellow Song for “The Great Unknown” featuring Hale. Also with 2 awards this year is James Reid. He won Favorite Chart-Topper Song for “Randomantic” and the first-ever winner of Favorite OPM Artist category. Nadine Lustre made a back-to-back win as she won Favorite Female OPM Artist for the second time. Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes, The Vamps, Gracenote, Hale, Elmo Magalona and Janella Salvador won 1 award each. One Direction, who had the most awards last year won their only nomination this year (probably their last nomination after they decided to go separate ways) as Favorite International Song for “History”. The boys were also the winner on this category last year. The good news is, it still makes them the artist with most number of MPS Awards with a total of 10 since 2014.
